Next Week

Highland Family, the Strickland clan will be getting away next week.  We are taking a family vacation.  We are going to Sea World.  Billy will be leading worship and Chris will taking the pulpit.  Please know that we will miss you all and look forward to returning the following Sunday.

Once we get back, we will be returning to our Sermon on the Mount Series.  We will be transitioning into the final chapter, Matthew 7, as we talk about possessing an Enduring Submission. Can't Wait!

We love you.

Hearn at Highland

Chaplain Jay Hearn joyously reminded us of God's unfailing love toward us through Christ Jesus.  Favorite quote he borrowed: Through the shed blood of Jesus, we become God's "everlasting property."  Praise God for securing His people through the sealing of the Holy Spirit. Check out his sermon on our "Sermon Page."

Jay Hearn Preaches this Sunday!

This Sunday, CrossPointe sends a team our way for Mission Meals.  It just so happens that Jay Hearn, a member of CrossPointe, is coming along and he will be taking Highland's pulpit.  I am delighted to have him!  Additionally, he serves as the Chaplain for MercyMed and I have had the chance to get to know him, as Highland and MercyMed share a tightly-knit partnership.  His sincere way and strong grip on God's Word are two of his many qualities that I really appreciate about him. Highland-tribe, come ready to welcome CrossPointe and Mr. Jay Hearn.

Homework for the Week

Highland, press into this passage over the week.  It speaks to "an Enduring Submission", which is what I will be preaching through as we move into the end of Matthew 6.  This passage serves as an overlay to practically understand what Jesus means when he says: "So. don't worry about your life..." Hang in there with me.

"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 1:3-11).
