Palm Service Sunday

This sermon is devoted to Palm Sunday, or the Triumphal Entry, which is found in the gospel of Luke 19-23.

The final week of Jesus' life culminated in a controversial week in Jerusalem during Passover. In this video, we'll explore the Gospel of Luke chs. 19-23, and how it came about that the innocent Jesus ended up being executed as a revolutionary rebel against Rome.

This video provided by the Bible Project was used to help visualize the Triumphal Entry.

Today's Service.

Today, we held Communal Prayer and continued on with our series on Philippians. Below is the passage we covered:

It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart, and you are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and establishment of the gospel. For God is my witness, how deeply I miss all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so that you can approve the things that are superior and can be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.
— Philippians 1:7-11

WD Feeney

W.D. Feeney served at our church in a variety of ways over the years. He took part in Mission Meals and Chicken & Rice Ministries. I also personally know and respect his mother a great deal. She is a terrific teacher and an upstanding woman. Our very own Katie Sturgeon works with her; they are very close.

The tragic loss of W.D. has shocked so many. To have known him was to love him. His honesty and sincere love for Jesus inspired anyone that had the privilege to encounter him. While the loss of him stings deeply, every remembrance of him overrides that sting with a fondness, warmth, appreciation and joy. Thanks for making life better for so many, W.D.

May the God of all comfort draw near to his family.

Highland, while I know you all were in good hands today, we missed being with you! Carrie and I discussed this morning how strange it is for it to be Sunday and for us to be away from Highland. We always miss you.

We had the chance to get away to Savannah for the weekend. Carrie had surprised me by getting us tickets to see one of my favorite bands - The Punch Brothers. They were part of the Savannah Music Festival this year.

We love you. We look forward to seeing you soon!
