Our Weekly Update

Thanks to all who helped make Easter special for these kiddos!

TESTIMONIES

Deadline Extended

I'd like to thank Madison Shelby and Robert Page for sharing their testimony, pointing us toward the goodness and glory of Christ Jesus! As these testimonies continue to be shared, we get to celebrate how the Lord is working throughout the life of our church! I also want to invite you to engage and let us celebrate how Christ is at work in your life. Please plan to write your testimony and get it to Kimberly, Justin or Rob. You can also email by clicking here. Make sure you include your full name, phone number, and whether you would prefer to personally share from the stage on a Sunday morning, or would rather someone else read your testimony for you.

WOMEN’s BIBLE Study

Our Women’s 8 Week Bible Study continues – Thursday evening, April 20th, at 6:30pm, in the sanctuary. This study draws our attention to 1st John in a deeper way. Feel free to attend, grabbing a tasty dessert, while taking a deeper dive into 1st John.

CHICKEN & RICE THIS SATURDAY, 10am

Shoutout to all who love our streets each and every week through Chicken and Rice Ministries. Hearty meals are prepared and offered to our neighbors Saturdays at 10am. All volunteers are welcome!

PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Sunday mornings, at 9am, come grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich during Coffee and Conversation! This time together is so simple, yet so meaningful, in the life of our church. All are welcome to come and grab a cup of coffee and take part in the conversation. We also worship and spend time in God’s Word, as Jo Ellen Holbrook offers us a devotion.

Men’s Bible Study is held each Sunday morning at 9am. Robert Singleton leads our men and continues to steadily offer our men the chance to walk according to God’s Word. He is in the education-building of our church site. All men are welcome to attend.

Our church service (Firehouse Gathering) will be held at 10am. This Sunday, we will open up a topical-series in which my son, Jude, so sweetly titled: “The Magnificent Move.” The purpose of this topical-series is to draw our attention to how we are to prepare our hearts to make the “magnificent-move” into the new facility the Lord’s providing for us.

Our heart’s posture being humble and honorable throughout this transition is an essential ingredient to this move being done well. Our foundational-text will be: Romans 15:1-6:

“Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. Each one of us must please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even the Messiah did not please Himself. On the contrary, as it is written, ‘The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.’ For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures. Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement allow you to live in harmony with one another, according to the command of Christ Jesus, so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with a united mind and voice” (Romans 15:1-6).

I look forward to opening up this series with you this Sunday.

Childcare Available, Ages 0-4

Childcare will be offered during our Firehouse Gatherings for children, ages 0-4. Childcare will be held in the Truth Spring Trade School Daycare, located at 3303 5th Ave. It is the white house with white picket fence and 2 blue doors. We have a terrific team of volunteers comprised of people who attend Highland. Thank you, all, for caring for our children. Donna Findley is our Coordinator. She’s doing a great job! Thank you, Donna! Volunteers will be ready to receive 0-4 year-old aged-children by 9:50am.

Family Matters

Stephen Wright and Billy Holbrook are organizing a community-wide Basketball Clinic. The plan is for it to take place at Fox Elementary’s gym April 29th. It is available for students who are in the 4th and 5th grade. The children will have the chance to hear about Jesus, learn about the great game of basketball and enjoy some snacks! Stephen will speak to the church about the event this Sunday. There are opportunities to serve available to us, Highland. Stephen will talk about those when he presents to the church.

Mary Mitchell, who faithfully attends Coffee and Conversation and Worship Service, tragically lost a family member recently. Please pray for Mary and her family as they grieve the loss of their loved one and reach out to her as you are able.

Highland, thank you for reaching out to Randall and surrounding him with love. He remains in Savannah Grand, room 211. You may reach out to him by calling that facility (Savannah Grand), asking to be connected to room 211. He is steadily improving, but has 6 more weeks of rehab to undergo before he can walk. Rallying around right now is vital to his well-being.

Grateful for each of you,

Rob

Our Weekly Update

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:13—14, ESV).

EASTER TESTIMONIES

PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Sunday mornings, at 9am, Coffee & Conversation takes place in the Firehouse. This time together affords us the most essential ingredients for building relationships – time and togetherness. We also worship together and spend time in God’s Word, as Jo Ellen Holbrook offers us a devotion.

This Sunday, our time together will highlight the glory of Christ through looking at: The Cost of the Cross & The Reward of the Resurrection. As we gather, we will, together, exalt the name of Jesus! Let us lift up His name higher than all of our circumstances, rejoicing over all He has done for us. As the author of Hebrews directs us, let us gather, so that: “Through Him {we} continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God” (Hebrews 13:15–16).

Highland, let’s continue to reach out and check on Randall. He remains in Savannah Grand, room 211. My dad came home Tuesday and seems to be in a very good place! I am so appreciative to all of you who’ve reached out to our family and have supported us throughout this time. Highland is family to us – we love and appreciate all of you.

Grateful for each of you,

Rob

EASTER TESTIMONIES

An invitation from Kimberly Klaus

This year during the Easter season, we want to share stories of God’s goodness and resurrecting power together! If you have a testimony to be shared on a Sunday morning, please write it on the testimony forms on Sunday and give it to Rob, Justin or Kimberly. You can also email by clicking here. Make sure you include your full name, phone number, and whether you would prefer to personally share from the stage on a Sunday morning, or would rather someone else read your testimony for you. CHICKEN & RICE THIS SATURDAY, 10am

This Saturday, our Chicken & Rice team will, once again, be putting love into action! They will be prepping and serving meals to our neighbors! Volunteers are welcome!

PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Sunday mornings, at 9am, Coffee & Conversation takes place in the Firehouse. This is a great time to connect with others, while we share life and worship our Lord altogether.

Robert continues to lead a Men’s Bible Study each Sunday morning, at 9am. He is in the education-building of our church site. All men are welcome to attend.

Our church service (Firehouse Gathering) is held at 10am. Kids’ Sunday will take place April 9th, Easter Sunday. The kids will be able to participate in an egg-hunt. I appreciate you all who love our kiddos so well! Regarding Sunday’s sermon, I am actually asking the Lord to make clear how He wants to proceed. As you know, we finished working through 1st John last Sunday. I intended to begin a topical series that focuses on how we, as a people, might move forward into the new chapter of Highland’s life. Jude and I were actually discussing the series.

As I described it to him, he suggested that I title the series: “The Magnificent Move.” We laughed together and it has stuck with me and has become the title of this Topical. However, following the service Sunday, I had such stimulating conversations with so many of you about parts of 1st John, chapter five! I really appreciated all of the discussion! The Lord has been stirring in my heart since Sunday to personally work through that passage a little more. So, I ask that you pray for me to hear the Lord’s voice speak clearly as I seek Him for direction on the sermon for this Sunday. I am EXCITED to see what He has in store for us!

Thank you, Donna! Volunteers will be ready to receive 0-4 year-old aged-children by 9:50am.

Family Matters

Randall Lake & Bob Strickland

Thank you all who’ve been part of helping Robert and Lashonda make this most recent transition. They are now in their new apartment and they are getting settled. Robert’s long-term goal is to land in North Highland, so that LaShonda can go to Jordan High School, where he attended. Let’s continue to ask the Lord to direct Robert in navigating these decisions, that he would be patient and obedient, in following the Lord’s leading.

Also, to those who’ve been hospitable to Mike, thank you! Every small gesture makes a big difference. The invitations to coffees, dinners and lunches are especially impactful – thank you, Highland.

Let’s continue to rally around Gary and Kathy, and their wonderful family, as they grieve the loss of Kathy’s mother. She was one who walked with the Lord joyously and boldly all of her days! Wow! What a legacy that she has left for her family - one written in the enduring and eternal love of Christ.

We have a neighbor and friend of our church who is in need of two twin mattresses and beds for two children due to unexpected family matters. If you are able to assist, please contact Megan or Rob.

Highland, thank you for reaching out and going by and visiting Randall. He remains in Savannah Grand, room 211. You may reach out to him by calling that facility (Savannah Grand), asking to be connected to room 211. He is steadily improving, but has 6 more weeks of rehab to undergo before he can walk. Rallying around right now is vital to his well-being.

My dad, Bob Strickland, continues to stabilize. Your love and support of us has carried us through, Highland! Thank you! My dad, who struggles with chronic pain, has been really struggling with it over the last few months in a more intensive fashion. My brother, John, is married to Amanda. Her father (Ron), who was one of my dad’s closer friends, died last week. We all, as a family, dearly loved Ron. For he brought so much to our lives. When my dad began to grieve the loss of Ron, on top of dealing with some other personal tensions, he knew he needed more support for his emotional duress. So, he is being treated and he is doing well! So, thank you for your love of us, your concern over my dad and devoted care of our family. We are asking the Lord to renew my dad’s strength, that he may serve the Lord with vigor, as he so desires, throughout his golden years!

I love you, Highland,

Rob

PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Mr Robert Singleton leads our Men’s Bible Study

Each Sunday, we have Coffee & Conversation starting at 9am, at the Firehouse. This is a great time to connect with others, while we share life and worship our Lord altogether. Robert continues to lead a Men’s Bible Study each Sunday morning, at 9am. He is in the education-building of our church site. All men are welcome to attend. At our Firehouse Gathering, which is held at 10am Sunday mornings, we will conclude our 1st John Series this Sunday. Here is our text that we will cover Sunday:

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death. We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols” (1st John 5:13-21, ESV).

Childcare will be offered during our Firehouse Gatherings for children, ages 0-4. Family Matters

Mrs. Kathy Jordan holding her grandson, Asa.

Highland, Kathy Jordan’s mother died Wednesday morning. She lived her life exalting the name of Jesus all of her days! She worshiped her Lord in freedom and in truth throughout every season of her life. Mrs. Bray was a joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Let’s surround the Jordan family during this time, as they enter a time of grief. May we be an outpouring of love unto them throughout this difficult time.

Robert is preparing to move this weekend, weather permitting. If you are able and willing to assist him, men, please contact us and we will put you in touch with him.

Thank you all for caring for Mike as he lost his mother. He is now back in Columbus. I would like us to really draw even nearer to him, in fellowship. Lunches, calls, coffees, dinners, in a regular rhythm. We are his family, Highland. Let’s rally around him, please.

Highland, thank you for reaching out and going by and visiting Randall. They ask that we continue to reach out to him, stop by to see him and be present in his life. It’s so important that we go out of our way to reach out to Randall during this time! Let’s continue to rally around Randall during this difficult time for him.

I love you, Highland,

Rob

Our Weekly Update

“Greater Things Are Yet To Come” (March 2023)

Member Gathering next Thursday, 6pm, at the Firehouse.

A Bonfire to Be Lit

“The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out” (Proverbs 13:9).

I was talking with one of the members of our church last weekend. I asked him his thoughts about the new building. He said, “These streets have been so dark for so long! We, as the people of God, have been present, bringing the light of Christ to these dark streets, but with the new building coming, it’s like a blazing bonfire is being placed smack dab in the middle of these dark streets.”

May the righteousness of Christ Jesus blaze throughout our streets, Highland! May we continue to rejoice, delighting in all the Lord is accomplishing in us and through us! “Lord, set our hearts ablaze with your righteousness! Cause the glory of Your name to rise among us!”

EIGHT WEEK WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Our Women’s 8 Week Bible Study continues. They are taking a deeper look at 1st John. It’s held in Highland’s sanctuary. Tasty desserts will be available. Sign up online. So grateful to all who are hosting and facilitating!

CHICKEN & RICE THIS SATURDAY, 10am

This Saturday, our Chicken & Rice team will spice things up a bit - literally! They will be offering barbecue chicken to those who have more month-than-money. This team imparts the love of Christ to our neighbors in such a meaningful way! Volunteers are welcome!

PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Each Sunday, we have Coffee & Conversation starting at 9am, at the Firehouse. All are welcome to join the conversation over a good cup of coffee. Worship is fostered as we sing together, too! Jo Ellen then shares her heart and joy over God’s Word and Robert continues to lead a Men’s Bible Study each Sunday morning, at 9am. He is in the education-building of our church site. All men are welcome to attend. At 10 am, our Firehouse Gathering begins. Justin will preach and Billy will lead us in worship. We will continue through our 1st John Series this Sunday. Here is our text that we will cover:

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. And this is the testimony that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1st John 5:4-12).

Shoutout to all who love our kiddos!

Family Matters

Robert Singleton is having to move. He and his daughter, LaShonda, have found an affordable place to live and he needs some help from us. He is in need of getting some living room furniture and a washing machine. Finally, he is asking any of us men who are willing to help him move to assist him with this process. Thank you, Highland, for considering how we can assist him with this transition in his life.

Mike Hare lost his mother, Mary, Wednesday. I want to thank each of you who’ve reached out to him and checked on him, Highland! As you’ve reached out, it has really lifted his spirits. If you want, you can email him by clicking here. As he returns to Columbus, he is asking us to really draw even nearer to him, in fellowship. Lunches, calls, coffees, dinners, in a regular rhythm. We are his family, Highland. Let’s rally around him, please.

Mike and his family are Texans – a heritage they hold in high esteem. His mother will be laid to rest in Hawkins, Texas. The family has asked me to come to facilitate the funeral. Therefore, I will most likely be away this weekend. Justin will preach and Billy will lead us in worship.

Randall’s family is preparing for him to move to Savannah-Grand, which is a rehab facility in Columbus. Highland, thank you for reaching out and going by and visiting him. They ask that we continue to reach out to him, stop by to see him and be present in his life. It’s so important that we go out of our way to reach out to Randall during this time! Let’s continue to rally around Randall during this difficult time for him.

I love you, Highland,

Rob

Our Weekly Update

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

REJOICING OVER YOU

Highland, as I pray, I rejoice over you. Grateful for all the Lord is doing in our midst! We don’t have much, but may we have a heart that beats for Him! As we move into the last chapter of 1st John, we will conclude our series by the end of March. Here is the passage that serves as our foundation for this series:

“And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us” (1st John 3:23–24).

As I was reading this week, John Piper refers to this verse as the “summary of the whole Bible”. I certainly see his point! As our hearts continually find their resting place in submission to the Lordship of Jesus, He tunes our hearts to love, as He loves us. Highland, let us continue to let the name of Jesus define how we love, as He is, Himself, the very expression of love.

EIGHT WEEK WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Our Women’s 8 Week Bible Study starts March 9th, 6:30 – tonight! It will be held in Highland’s sanctuary. Dessert will be available. Sign up online. So grateful to all who are hosting and facilitating!

CHICKEN & RICE THIS SATURDAY, 10am

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” (1st John 5:1-5)?

Thank you to all who are part of caring for these precious children!

Robert Singleton is having to move. He and his daughter, LaShonda, have found an affordable place to live and he needs some help from us. Finally, he is asking any of us men who are willing to help him move to assist him with this process. Thank you, Highland, for considering how we can assist him with this transition in his life.

Mike Hare needs our love and support, Highland. His mother needs our prayers as she continues to battle pneumonia. She’s frail and needs the strength of our Lord to carry her through this sickness. I ask you to pray for Mike and his mother, Mary. Reach out to him and check on him, if you know him. We are his family.

Randall’s rehab facility does allow him to receive visitors. If you would like to visit him, he is currently at Regional Rehab in Phenix City, by Chick-Fil-A. He is in room 104. I know he’d love to see some of us or hear from some of us! In our last visit, he made it very clear that we are so important to him! His love for his Highland family abounds! May our love abound for him throughout this long recovery journey.

Rejoicing over you,

Rob

REFLECTION & CHARGE FROM LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE

Highland, our service last Sunday was precious to me. The Holy Spirit is working in our midst, stirring in authority and conviction amongst us! Let’s continue to ask the Lord to free our grip from what sin we may cling, causing our hands to be raised unto Him, in surrender, adoring His great name. Through His discipline, may our hearts be set free, to abound in His holiness, producing an abundance of fruit in the life of us, His sons and daughters. “Lead us by Your good spirit, Lord; teach us to do Your will. Lead us on level ground, Lord, for YOU are our God!” May we be a people marked by His holiness! Oh, that He would be our greatest love!

EIGHT WEEK WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

I am happy to announce that there will be an eight week Women’s Bible Study that will start this month. Following David’s sermon, it is so wonderful to see, yet another opportunity for us to gather and grow together. Shoutout to Carol and Julie, who are hosting, plus anyone else that I am unaware of – thank you! Click the button below to get the info and to register.

CHICKEN & RICE THIS SATURDAY, 10am

This Saturday, our Chicken & Rice team will mix it up a little bit and do chili cheese dogs! Shoutout to Sandra for bringing in a little variety to the menu! Thank you to all who come and serve each week!

PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Each Sunday, we have Coffee & Conversation starting at 9am, at the Firehouse. A great time to get to know each other and enjoy being together. Jo Ellen fosters a time of seeing life through God’s Word, as she shares her devotion. Additionally, Robert Singelton continues to facilitate a Men’s Bible Study each Sunday morning, at 9am, in the education-building of our church site. All men are welcome to attend. Our church-service then begins at 10am. We will continue through our 1st John Series this Sunday. Rob preaches. We will continue through our 1st John Series this Sunday. Here is our text that we will cover Sunday:

“This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.”

1st John 4:13–21

On a personal note

Highland, great job engaging in the gritty-work of loving one another! I thank each and every one of you for surrounding the Jones family in this tragic time for them. Those at Porter and Highland have really helped them recover and get established in their new home. Two needs that I am aware that they have remaining are a washer and dryer along with bedding. They have three queen sized beds. If anyone has any available bedding to fit queen-sized beds that you’d be willing to offer, please let us know.

Mike Hare’s mother continues to battle for her life. She’s returning to the hospital as she continues to deal with complications related to pneumonia. Mike’s preparing to travel to be with her immediately. Please ask the Lord to draw near to Mike and comfort him, too. Reach out to him as you’re able and check on him, please. Let’s love him well, Highland.

Talked with Chris Dubose. Said he’s hurting but is recovering – airbags caused him most of the pain, but he does not believe he’s injured. So relieved! Chris and Stephanie are so dear to me and to the Highland-Tribe. Continue to pray for them, too – daily! Randall is out of the hospital! He is now in a rehab facility, on the road to recovery. Last Saturday, I got to visit him in the hospital and it was a conversation I will carry with me all of my days. He loves Highland and considers us family. Let us continue to love him like family, Highland – as a matter of fact, let’s do that all around, Highland. I rejoice over you, Highland.

Humbled,

Rob

CHICKEN & RICE THIS SATURDAY, 10am

This Saturday, we will have St Andrews’ Youth with us, as they serve Chicken & Rice. Let’s pray for them, as they serve, offering the love of Christ to our streets. Our Chicken and Rice Team remains one of the most precious and vital parts of our church. Grateful for them and all they do to honor our Lord!

Sunday Morning’s plans

We have Coffee & Conversation starting at 9am, at the Firehouse. A great time to get to know each other and enjoy being together. Joellen’s devotion is always an outpouring of God’s love and challenges us to love one another as Christ loves us. Robert continues to facilitate a Men’s Bible Study each Sunday morning, at 9am, in the education-building of our church site. All men are welcome to attend.

We will continue through our 1st John Series this Sunday. David Klaus will be preaching. He will be walking us through 1st John 4:7-12. Here is the text:

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us” (1st John 4:7-12).

On a personal note

I look forward to seeing you at the Firehouse Gathering this Sunday. A few matters that we need to rally around in prayer, Highland – the Lake Family. Randall continues to fight to get better after his car accident. The Dubose Family, too – Chris had an accident recently. From what I know, he’s okay, but let us love them well. Praying for Timothy Jones. He was recently in a house fire. Lost everything. Let’s support him and pray for him at this time. Mike Hare’s mother was recently admitted to the hospital. Let’s pray for Mary, his mother, and love him well as she’s in the hospital. If there are other needs, I would love to know in order to pray and invite the church to pray, too!

Let us be willing to go out of our way to check on and love one another, especially in times of difficulty, Highland. I love you, Highland. Grateful the Lord allows me to serve Him, by loving you.

Humbled,

Rob

SUNDAY’S 10AM SERVICE AT THE FIREHOUSE

Highland, we will continue through 1st John 4 this Sunday. Here is the text we will be tackling:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” (1st John 4:1-6).

SUNDAY’S 10AM SERVICE AT THE FIREHOUSE

Highland, we will begin 1st John 4 this Sunday. Here is the text we will be tackling:

“And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already” (1st John 3:23-4:3).
