PLANS FOR SUNDAY MORNING
Coffee and Conversation each Sunday morning at 9am allows us the chance to enjoy the company of one another in the presence of Christ! His name is lifted up even higher than our circumstances! We also enjoy hot breakfast sandwiches and coffee together, thanks to our breakfast team. Shoutout especially to James Gamble for grabbing our biscuits each Sunday morning.
Robert Singleton is leading our Men’s Study each Sunday morning, 9am, in the educational building of Highland. Very applicable look at Scripture, and it’s discussive! All men are welcome to attend.
Kids’ Sunday is happening this Sunday. Please drop off your children who are 5 and up at the original sanctuary to get checked in. During the service, children will either be in the classrooms off the deck for a Bible lesson or a craft. Outdoor games will be held in the Stricklands’ backyard as well. Furthermore, if you’re interested in helping with Kids’ Sundays, please talk to Julie Jordan, Katie Sturgeon or Carol Wright. As soon as service concludes, please make arrangements to pick up your children.
I appreciate all of who’ve shared your testimony with the church. The fruits in our lives that’s produced by the Holy Spirit is intended to be shared; thank you for sharing it with us. It has nourished us all.
This Sunday, during our Firehouse Gathering at 10am, Justin and I will take time to speak more about “the Magnificent Move” – based upon Romans 15:1–6:
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have hit this passage with some broad strokes. This Sunday, we will take a closer look at how we are to “bear with the failings of the weak.” The word, “bear” means share in carrying the weight of something – so, in this case, we are to carry the weight of and support those who are weak, even as they fail. How do we do that? That is the question we will seek to answer. Justin will also jump in and help shape our understanding, as it relates to how we move forward, Highland.
Childcare Available, Ages 0-4
Childcare will be offered during our Firehouse Gatherings for children, ages 0-4. Childcare will be held in the Truth Spring Trade School Daycare, located at 3303 5th Ave. It is the white house with white picket fence and 2 blue doors. We have a terrific team of volunteers comprised of people who attend Highland. Thank you, all, for caring for our children. Donna Findley is our Coordinator. She’s doing a great job! Thank you, Donna! Volunteers will be ready to receive 0-4 year-old aged-children by 9:50am.
I love you, Highland. I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
Grateful for each of you,
Rob
