Today's Service.

Carrie Strickland led us in Communal Prayer. Here is part of the passage we used as a foundation for our time of corporate prayer:

On that day the deaf will hear
the words of a book,
and out of a deep darkness
the eyes of the blind will see.
The humble will have joy
after joy in the Lord,
and the poor people will rejoice
in the Holy One of Israel.
— Isaiah 29:18-19

Don’t forget to take part in our Summer Assignment.

Then, we continued on with our series through Philippians. We completed the “Just One Thing” Portion of of Sermon Series. A handout was passed out that glues everything together that we have been covering over the last month or so. Here is that handout:

We also referred to an illustration we used in our series last year entitled: ‘Worry, Worship & The Word of God.’ We used this illustration because it is partly based on this passage we covered in Philippians today. Here is the illustration:

The Lord is the Strength of His People.

Highland. this is from my devotion this morning. May we gather today knowing fully that this passage is the very fabric of our relationship we have with our Lord. We place our trust in Him; He carries us forever. I love you. Cannot wait to see you.

Join us,

Rob

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.
Therefore my heart rejoices,
and I praise Him with my song.
The Lord is the strength of His people;
He is a stronghold of salvation for His anointed.
Save Your people, bless Your possession,
shepherd them, and carry them forever.
— Psalm 28:7-9

Today's Service.

Donny Faulkner offered us his Book of Remembrance entry today. He reminded us of how the Lord used our church to help him grow in knowledge of Christ, and in the Holy Spirit. Consider doing a Communal Prayer or writing a blog post that could be shared on our site. See details below.

*Both the sermon and the communal prayer entry are in the same audio file below.

"May Your Faithful Love Rest On Us."

The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power. Now the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him —those who depend on His faithful love to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine. We wait for Yahweh; He is our help and shield. For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name. May Your faithful love rest on us, Yahweh, for we put our hope in You.
— Psalm 33:17-22

Came up as part of my devotion this morning. Speaks so much as to how I pray for us, Highland Tribe. I love you. I am grateful for you. I look forward to seeing you this morning.

A Communal Prayer from Beverly Thornton

As we hold our church-wide fast today, may we join in the prayer that Beverly shared during communal prayer a few weeks back.

“Father, I come to you asking for revival for Highland Community Church and for every church throughout the world. Father, I’m asking in prayer that the Holy Spirit take over and deliver us from unclean spirits and demonic torment. Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit gives Highland and all churches and believers unity that we may strive together to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ and may we all be filled with knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”
