Coffee & Convo Devotion begins at 9am

This Sunday, we will hear a testimony and will also continue our journey through the Gospel of Matthew. Luke Strickland has written his testimony. He will share this Sunday! We will then pick up in Matthew 15:10, working toward the end of the chapter.
Here’s our initial text: “And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone” (Matthew 15:10-20).

chloe’ gaddis was baptized
Chloe’s heartfelt confession resonated with us all! Chloe’s statement ‘familiarity began to breed irreverence’ has really stuck with me all week. May we all be mindful of this warning. However, this particular statement she made is directed toward us all: “And I think the most important thing in all of this, Highland, is that you cannot fully taste the goodness of God and live in the freedom that Christ's death offers, until you have fully felt the weight of your sin. And I finally have. And I want to celebrate with you in that today, as I fully accept this gift I do not deserve, and will spend the rest of my life trying to understand, but fully believe in my heart for the first time, that I am able to accept it.” Check out her testimony on our audio page.
