The Unseen Acts Around Us

Through the glass-door of our house, I can see the church parking lot. As I look out there this evening, I see our neighbor picking up trash scattered throughout the lot. He does this weekly. There is no pay-off, agreement or acclaim.

This neighbor is not a member, not even an attendee of Highland. Just a man that I see everyday walking along our well-worn sidewalks. We exchange simple greetings that, on occasion, turn into ordinary conversations about life. The power of God’s love extends far beyond the acts that are seen with our eyes.

My point: I am grateful for my neighbors.

My prayer: Lord, the One who knows and righteously judges the heart, stir the affections of my neighbor for You.

Jesus Saves.

Salvation belongs to our Lord:

The One who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms. The One who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what He has seen and heard, yet no one accepts His testimony. The one who has accepted His testimony has affirmed that God is true. For God sent Him, and He speaks God’s words, since He gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hands. The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.
— John 3:31-36

Highland.

It is with deep sadness that I tell you that Cathy Woodman passed away February 21, 2020. She is now at rest with our Lord, because of what Jesus has done - He paid it all. She professed Jesus to be Lord and was a charter member of Highland Community Church. Though she will be sorely missed, we rejoice over the memory of her, as she brought laughter to so many. Highland, it’s now our duty to care for Roger, her husband of 39 years. Let us rally around him in love and care, plus his family, too.

I love you, Highland. I am grateful to serve you.

You will be missed, Cathy.

Thank you for everything.
